About the AITD Excellence Awards

Since 2001 AITD's Excellence Awards have recognised outstanding achievement in learning and development and in organisational development.

In 2015, three new categories were added, reflecting the changing learning and development profession: social/collaborative learning; gamification/simulation for learning; and, talent development programs.

In 2018, six new categories were added: leadership development; women in leadership; diversity and culture; eLearning; onboarding/induction; and, sales training performance.

Award Categories

Best Implementation of Blended Learning Solution (Large Enterprise)

This award is presented to an organisation who can demonstrate excellence and impact by utilising a combination of learning delivery mechanisms/methodologies/modes in a new or existing learning initiative.

Best Implementation of Blended Learning Solution (Small Enterprise)

This award is presented to an organisation who can demonstrate excellence and impact by utilising a combination of learning delivery mechanisms/methodologies/modes in a new or existing learning initiative.

Best Use of Gamficiation / Simulation for Learning

This Award is presented to an organisation that has used gamification or simultaion in a learning initiative to enhance learner experience and contribute to positive organisational performance.

Best Use of Social / Collaborative Learning

This award is presented to an organisation that has implemented a social or collaborative learning initiative in a workplace to enhance learner experience and contribute to positive organisational performance.

Best Leadership Development Program

This award is presented to an organisation that has implemented a leadership development program to enhance individual or team performance and contribute to positive organisational performance.

Best Women in Leadership Development Program

This award is presented to the organisation that demonstrates best practices in developing and delivering an effective leadership development program targeted to women who are aspiring to be leaders or are in executive level positions.

Best Diversity and Culture Program

This award is presented to an organisation that demonstrates success in leading and enhancing diversity and culture across an organisation. Must include a workplace strategy to improve diversity and engender a culture to support an organisational vision and contribute to positive organisational outcomes.

Best eLearning Program

This award is presented to an organisation that has utilised eLearning technologies in a workplace learning initiative to enhance learner experience and contribute to positive organisational performance.

Best Onboarding / Inducation Program

This award is presented to an organisation that demonstrates best practices for onboarding new employees into the organisation. The best Onboarding/Induction Program category must include examples of the process, tools, and technology used to make onboarding effective and efficient.

Best Program for Sales Training Performance

This award is presented to an organisation that has utilised workplace learning programs that were specifically designed to address sales performance objectives through sales training.

Mark Pompei Student Scholarship

This award is presented to an individual who is a part-time student of learning and development in recognition of academic excellence and a commitment to the field of learning and development.

The Dr Alastair Rylatt Award for Learning and Development Professional of the Year

This award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to learning and development in the past 18 months.
