Changes to Cert IV in Training and Assessment announced

Strengthening the Cert IV TAE

Released: 5 April 2016

On 1 April 2016 the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) announced the approval of an update to the Training and Education (TAE) Training Package.

Following feedback from the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, industry and other stakeholders, AISC has amended the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to include two new core units. One unit is focussed on addressing adult language, literacy and numeracy skills. The other is on the development of effective assessment tools.

These changes will apply to new students undertaking the Cert IV qualification, although AISC has recommended that these requirements be extended to the existing VET workforce.

All Registered Training Organisations will need to apply to the Australian Skills and Quality Authority (ASQA) to offer the updated qualification.
