This is an AITD2017 session

.

Summary

Advances in technology, global competition and economic disruption are changing what we do, how we do it, and even whether we need to do it, rapidly and in many sectors.

We need to have a vocational education and training system that can keep pace with this – enabling people to gain the right skills to be flexible, relevant and confident in the workplace.

How are Skills Services Organisations working with business, industry and the training sector to drive this and create great training products that help Australia to improve productivity and keep its leading place as a globally competitive economy?

Session highlights

  1. The new arrangements within Australia’s training system and the evolving role of VET
  2. Do current qualifications and training need to change to meet the future of work challenges?
  3. Cross cutting themes – creating training products that meet the needs of multiple industries
  4. How can we increase work relevance of qualifications, including takeup of Apprenticeships and Traineeships within new entrants and to upskill existing workforces?
