As AVI’s Manager of Learning and Engagement, Ellen is responsible for a team of consultants developing and delivering high impact knowledge exchange activities including training, workshops, forums and networking events for thousands of professionals from the government, business and community sector each year. She has extensive experience in the management of education, training and community engagement programs in cross-cultural contexts in a diverse range of countries. Ellen is a specialist in intercultural communication and speaks advanced Japanese and intermediate Mandarin having lived and worked for two years in Japan and deployed to remote Western China for one year on an Australian government program. This on the ground experience is consolidated by undergraduate qualifications in Asian Studies and Journalism and Master studies in International Relations. Ellen has delivered training in a wide range of contexts both internationally across East and South East Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East, Southern and Eastern Africa as well as domestically in urban, rural and remote indigenous communities. She is an engaging facilitator, receiving consistently outstanding feedback for her work in adult learning development and delivery and also has extensive experience in the design of online learning using various technologies.
