Engaging the Emerging Generations of Learners

Claire Madden | Author & Social Researcher, Hello Clarity

The way we go about learning has been transformed in the digital age. From the days of education philosophy being built around a 'manufacturing model' based on linearity and conformity, to today's era of self directed learners, collaborative platforms and flipped classrooms. Learners in previous generations were taught to memorise information 'just in case' they needed it, whereas today's learners see the value in just being able to access information 'just in time'.

With this we have seen a shift with emerging generations placing value on speed of access over depth of knowledge. Driven by the fast moving technological age, emerging generations are in a learning environment where algorithms determine results, artificial intelligence write their essays and voice commands complete students' homework.

In this session, Claire will unpack the latest social shifts affecting today's learners and equip educators to effectively respond to the education needs of the emerging generations.
