Designing for Neurodiversity – Inclusive Workshop Strategies (ONLINE) - NSW Divisional Council
While much attention has been given to traditional accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG), we often overlook the neurodivergent learners—those who experience the world through different cognitive, sensory, and processing lenses. In Australia, up to 20% of the population identifies as neurodivergent, and yet this group is often underrepresented and misunderstood.
Join us online for a deep dive into the specific needs of neurodivergent participants. By understanding how neurodivergence shows up in workshops and meetings, you’ll understand how you can adapt your design and delivery strategies to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for everyone.
We’ll cover | Introduction to Neurodiversity | How Neurodivergence Shows Up | Designing for Neurodivergent Learners | Facilitating with Neurodiversity in Mind.
Incorporating neurodiversity into your learning design doesn’t require drastic changes—it’s about rethinking how we deliver content in a way that considers different cognitive needs. Small adjustments can make a significant difference, not only for neurodivergent participants but for all learners.
Key takeaways:
Discover practical strategies and simple adjustments to make simple yet impactful changes that accommodate everyone. By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Identify key characteristics of neurodivergent learners and understand their impact on engagement and learning outcomes.
